Our social "committee" ministry  helps our friends and members reach out to our community in physical ways with Christ’s love.

We periodically have collections of items needed by area charities.

The New London Community Meal Center was established in 1985 in the New London area. It was created to respond to the needs of New London's most vulnerable residents by providing nutritious meals in a kind, hospitable and clean environment.

The organization currently provides lunch five days a week and dinner six days a week, including Saturday dinner served by a downtown New London church.  (We have teams that serve at the New London Community Meal Center on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 4 pm to 6:30 pm.)

The New London Community Meal Center served 73,518 meals to 35,000 in one fiscal year.

 

 

Bibles, Devotions for Prison Ministry

Bibles in any condition and Christian devotions or books will be donated to Prison Ministry at York Women’s Prison in NianticThe Chaplain reported that she distributes about 50 Bibles a week. 

 

Campbell’s products labels are used to obtain educational equipment and supplies for Bethesda Lutheran Homes, which are Christian group homes for mentally retarded people The labels don’t need to be trimmed.  All soups, gravies, etc - see the list in the box. 

Including General Mills Box Tops for Education.

 

Eyeglasses / Cell Phones

The Lions Clubs collect, sort, clean & distribute eye glasses to people without access to needed eye-care.  The Lions also collect and recycle used cell phones.

 

 

Personal Care Items

Personal  care  items of  any  type  are  always  needed, according to Care & Share of East Lyme, because these items can’t be purchased using food stamps.

This includes paper products and laundry products.  (Only unopened containers, please)

 
 

Printer Cartridges

Christ Lutheran Preschool collects and recycles printer ink cartridges as a fund raiser. Look for the donation boxes downstairs near the Preschool and upstairs in the coat closet.
